When you are suffering from leg pain, a chiropractor may recommend you do some at-home exercises, and leg stretches to help build strength and flexibility. Doing leg stretches can improve your flexibility, which can help with leg pain and reduce the risks of suffering from a leg injury or pulled muscle. Our team at Back on Track Chiropractic in Birmingham, AL, believe in helping our patients continue their treatment in the comfort of their home. Let’s look at a few tips and exercises that can be done at home.
Recovering from an injury or chronic pain does not occur overnight. At-home continuation of your treatment can improve your condition. For example, leg stretches can improve the flexibility of your legs and help speed up your recovery. Below are a couple of leg stretches you can do at home:
This stretch can help with walking and running and reduce your pain when bending the leg to pick something up. First, stretch the quads and stand with your side to a wall or chair to help with your balance and bring your foot up to your behind. Then, keeping your thighs and knees together, gently stretch out the muscles by pulling the heel of your foot closer to your body.
This stretch works the muscles along the back of the upper leg, which can help with bending the knee, walking, and jumping. For this stretch, place your foot in front of you and at the waist, leaning your torso toward the extended leg. Then, slightly bend the supporting knee to increase the stretch.
Hopefully, the above leg stretches will help continue your leg pain treatment at home. Ask Dr. Duca at Back on Track Chiropractic for a list of additional leg stretches to do at home. Call our team today at (205) 623-5782 or reach us through our website by using our online contact form.
