June is Men's Health Month

Here at Back on Track Chiropractic and Wellness Center, we would like to remind you that June is Men’s Health Month.

Men’s Health Month

As a group, men tend to go to the doctor less than women, even if they are suffering from the same symptoms.  They also tend to have a few bad habits, including drinking, smoking, not eating right and not exercising.  They also tend to have higher levels of stress when compared to women. This contributes to an overall decline in health and can lead to major health problems later in life, including heart attacks, strokes and high blood pressure.  Getting regular checkups and participating in a healthy lifestyle can reduce your risk for many chronic diseases.

Staying Healthy with Help from our Birmingham Chiropractor

Our Birmingham chiropractor offers a plethora of services to help you stay healthy, including chiropractic adjustments, massage therapy and nutritional advice.  The foundation of chiropractic care is the chiropractic adjustment.  If the spine isn’t properly aligned, it can affect the central nervous system, which is responsible for everything that goes on inside your body.

Massage is beneficial for the body and mind.  They help lower stress.  They reduce feelings of anxiety and depression, and they lower overall body pain.  When the muscles are tight and knotted, they send pain signals to the brain.  Tight muscles also reduce flexibility and restrict range of motion, leading to more frequent sprains and strains.  Massages help work out tight spots in the muscles, which reduces back and neck pain and improves range of motion.  Massage therapy has even been known to lower blood pressure.

Our nutritional counseling can help you improve the quality of your diet.  Many men do not know the proper supplements to take or foods to eat to ensure their continued health.  Our chiropractor can give you dietary advice and recommend vitamin and mineral supplements to help you improve the nutritional value of your diet.  You may even lose a few pounds if you are overweight.
